This InvoiceOcean product update looks back at everything that arrived in your account during February 2021 - from account security to new document templates and a faster way to get paid online.
Stronger account security with automatic logout
Keeping client and financial data safe is a priority for any invoicing software, so we added a new automatic logout option to account settings. You can adjust the time after which your session ends automatically, choosing anywhere from 5 minutes up to 72 hours (3 days). To set it up, go to Settings > Account settings > Configuration > Security, then choose the time you want under the Automatic logout option.
A shorter logout window is a simple way to protect an account that is left open on a shared or public computer, without adding any extra steps to your daily online invoicing routine.
New document templates: packing lists and EAN codes
Custom invoice templates got two useful additions this month. First, a new packing list template (packing_list) is now available alongside the standard document codes - you will find it in the invoice preview as one of the printing options, and you can create your own version under Settings > Invoice templates > Add new template > Additional document.
Second, we added support for EAN codes on invoice items with the new variable, together with updated sample import files that reflect the recent changes. Together with the option to add a product to an invoice by its EAN code, this makes it much faster to build an invoice for businesses that already track stock by barcode.
Faster filtering and warehouse reporting
Two new filters make it easier to find what you need: a Packages filter on the product list, and a Company / Private person filter on the invoice list - both requested directly by users who manage large numbers of clients and products.
On the list of warehouse documents, we added a summary of the gross value, which several of you told us improves day-to-day stock control. We also added the option to download all invoices from a selected period as a single zip file, without having to select each document individually - a small change that saves real time during month-end reporting or when preparing recurring invoices for archiving.
Managing credit notes and building invoices faster
If you follow us on social media, you may already know about the new import and export options for Credit Notes, which now work the same way as regular invoice imports and exports.
Together, these changes keep the everyday work of creating an invoice, correcting one with a credit note, and reconciling it all in your records inside a single, consistent workflow - which is exactly what small business invoicing needs when order volume starts to grow.
Get paid faster with Stripe
Card payments are now easier to accept thanks to our integration with Stripe. Stripe supports payments in over 135 currencies while charging just a small fee per transaction, making it a practical option for online invoicing across different markets. To activate it, go to Account settings > Online payments (activate), then Account settings > Online payments > Activate Stripe. You can read more in our Stripe integration guide.
Accepting card payments directly on an invoice is one of the simplest ways to turn a payment reminder into an actual payment, since clients can pay in a single click instead of arranging a separate bank transfer.
